In this article the author, Dorthy Samuels, writes about a new bill that would make abortion illegal. She thinks that, "The painful decision to end a pregnancy should be made in private between a woman and her doctor -- not in politically driven debate among members of Congress and state legislatures." In 1970 a law was passed to make abortion legal, to reduce the deaths due to back alley abortions. This year in President Obama's new health care reform law congress had to look at women's reproductive rights. Even though, abortion is legal there are states that have certain laws that banns abortion, due to what trimester a woman is in. There are also many states that banned abortion coverage in insurance plans too. "About two dozen states are looking at bills to increase counseling requirements or waiting periods prior to abortions. About 20 states are considering new ultrasound requirements. This is on top of an already onerous regimen of state restrictions that has drastically cut down on abortion providers and curtailed a woman's ability to exercise a constitutionally protected right"(Samuels). Abortion is legal, but ant-abortion forces have made it so hard for a woman to excise her right, it seems abortion is illegal now.

This article holds so much information about the laws of different states it does not tell you what the author really thinks til the end. It is all relevant though. In the end, she says, "they have primarily succeeded in making it harder for women of modest and meager means to obtain a safe and legal medical procedure." This makes you think of all the bad and unsafe ways abortion can be done if it was illegal. It's not persuasive enough for me, it's more to inform the reader.

I side with the author about keeping abortion legal. I think it's a woman's body and they can make their own decisions. I personally would not get one, but it should be a woman's right. If congress does pass a law that would make abortiion illegal, there will definitely be more injuries and deaths due to unsafe illegal procedures. I think this issue is really big in America not just to women, but to men too. It needs to be discussed between the family, if so, and the doctor before making a major decision.

I'M A BARBIE GIRL

I DO NOT GET WHY EVERY GIRL TRIES TO SAY THAT THEY ARE BARBIE! Okay she has a nice figure, the dream house, a little pink convertible, oh yea and the perfect dream man, Ken. It sounds so great, but it's also so fake. I hate when girls try to say they are Barbie. No one can be that perfect and not have any problems. When most girls say that they are a Barbie Girl I think they give other people the wrong impression, like they are concieted and materialistic. There are many stars in the media that say theY are like Barbie or they are Barbie, like Paris Hilton and Nicki Minaj. A few things stars have in common with Barbie, is the plastic body, due to plastic surgeries and maybe the popularity. Something they do not have in common with Barbie is the perfect man. One can make themself fake like Barbie, but one can not make a perfect man, like Ken. I think any girl that calls themself Barbie is fake like Barbie, has low self esteem, low confidence, and dreams way too big. I would not mind having the figure, the dream house etc., but I'm glad I'm not Barbie. I'm real, not fake, and I'm glad to be me. The way God made me.

CRAAP

My paper is about America being the world's police. I believe that the article, "Should America Police The World?" by Mark Weisbrot is a credible source for my paper. Even though, my article was posted in 2001, there's much history and facts about America being the world's police which is true. The author tells the reader why the American Government thinks that they should police the world. On the other side, the author shows why we should not police the world and what the outcome could be.

I found my article at commondreams.org, which is a is an Internet-based progressive news and grassroots activism organization founded in 1997. Also the author Mark Weisbrot, is or was co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research (www.cepr.net) in Washington, DC. I looked at many sources, but I think this is a good article that I could use for my paper.

THESIS

America being the world’s police and peacemaker has put its country on a spiral downfall. To pull through this American Crisis, the government should start creating more jobs and helping its citizens at the time of need, instead of, interfering with other countries’ affairs and wasting money, which we could use to build a better America.

No1No1No1....

When you first read my title you might of thought this blog was about Alicia Keys, but really it's about every celebrity. If I had to pick which celebrity to vote off this so called island completely I would not pick anyone. It might sound stupid, but they are just doing their job and look who's making all the cash, they are. People may not like certain celebrities, so why sit there and watch them. I think we get a little jealous of their lifestyle.

For example, you might say you would pick Britney Spears to vote off, because she's a bad influence on little girls. Well let me just say, you know back in the day you were listening to her music singing that, "Hit me baby one more time." Now that she is trying to live her life being herself people want to criticize her. All that celebrities are trying to do is make money to live the good life everyone else wishes for. They might pick and choose the wrong way to do so, but that's their fault. If you do not like them you have the decision whether to watch them or to let your kids watch them. We don't have to wish they were not on this planet.

In the end, I would not kick any celebrity off this so called island. They are just doing what they are paid to do. Plus as much as we watch and criticize them they are getting paid more. If they get on your nerves or you think they are a bad influence then do not watch them. Just let the celebrities be and let them live their life.

Choosing A Topic

ABORTION
Many people may choose abortion as the best chose if they are scared to have a child. People close to me have chosen abortion for specific reason. It's a very controversial issue, because your basically taking a life or are you?

GAY MARRIAGE
Americans have the freedom to do what they please. How is it right to say who can marry who? Gay marriage mostly is controversial to people with strong aspects on religion and to homosexuals.

LEGALIZING MARIJUANA
Marijuana can affect a persons abilities that can put people in danger. Medically it is known that it can help AIDS victims and even people with glaucoma. If everyone had the abiltiy to get this drug though, I do not think the U.S would be a safe place.

U.S.A ACTING AS THE PEACEMAKER
The U.S.A acts as a peacemaker for all countries. Some people might think that us Americans tend to get into other people's business. I'm not sure if we do it mostly to protect ourselves or if we just do it because we think other counrties should be like us.

Guns Kill People

What do you think when you hear someone say guns don't kill people, people kill people. In the movie Runaway Jury Celeste is fighting for her husband who was gundowned at work by a co worker. The co worker used a gun from Vicks, a gun company who sales their guns carelessly. If Vicks didn't just hand there guns out to whoever, not just Celeste's husband's life, but many other lives in different places would of still been alive.

Since I haven't seen the rest of the movie, I really hope Celeste wins. I just think there should be some kind of gun control. Gun shops should have laws to go by when saling a gun to a person. There has been many school shootings, mall shootings, even shootings at military bases. If America had a law to abide by when it comes to control, I think the rate of shootings would go down.

To Be Mean or Not To Be Mean?

"No! Do you know what people say about you behind your back? Hmm? They say you're a homeschooled jungle freak that's a less hott version of me! Yea, so you can take that fake apology and shove it up your hairy c...!"-Mean Girls

Caty is one of us many girls who try to fit into the, so called, girl world, which is not always the best thing. Being a girl is hard , and the pressures of today's society will sometimes make you do anything to fit in. Like Caty, one has seen what the combination of greed, jealousely, and just trying to fit in can do to oneself. There is much in common with Caty, but there are also some things that are different between us, such as, personality traits, the way she handles her friends, and our life lessons of girl world.

In the beginning Caty is a cultured, smart, nice, and very beautiful inside and out kind of girl. Then she starts going to public school and turns into something she thinks everyone will like. Caty is one of the smartest girls in her math class, until she meets a boy and dumbs herself down for his attention. She also makes friends and treats everyone with kindness, until she meets the clique. Wearing more provocative clothing and following certain rules of her new found clique Caty becomes the girl everyone loves to hate. Unlike Caty, one was not homeschooled, but when one went from middle school to high school one wanted to change so much. One was always good in school, but one would never dumb oneself down to get attention from any boy. Throughout highschool one did change and so did friends. Joining certain activities made one distant to the people one use to love to hangout with. One always remembered though to treat everyone with respect. Like Caty though, and every other girl, we always get those moments where we will talk bad about someone. Also, one did change the whole wardrobe thinking the more you show the more people will like you, but found out more people just tend to talk meanly about you.

If I had to create a bumpersticker that modeled my philosophy on life, it would be live, laugh, and love.

Everyday people use statements or slogans to describe what they believe or what they support. It's common to see bumper stickers on cars, slogans and during political elections, and common qoutes about life on the internet. If I could use one statement to describe my philosophy on life it would be live, laugh, and love. These three words may sound simple, but they are powerful to me.

Live well. This means live your life to the fullest and do not be afraid to take chances. Living well just does not have to do with yourself. It can mean spending time with your friends and family. One can never know when life is going to be over for themselves or some close to them. Also, some people do not have the luxury of living their life as we do in America, so why take life for granted?

Laugh often. Laughing heals the heart and makes people feel so much better. They say "do not cry over spilled milk." I say let the milk spill then laugh about it! It's so much better to laugh then to cry. Almost everytime something bad happens, a few days later one will look back and laugh about it.

Lastly, Love much. The best thing in the world is to love and to be loved in return. It's nice to wake up every morning knowing someone loves you. It does not have to be a boyfriend or a girldfriend. It can be your parents or a pet. Just knowing someone is there to give you a hug and you can do the same makes you feel better about yourself.

In conclusion, live, love, laugh is the best statments that describes ,my philsophy on life. I'm sure many people can relate to my statment of life. When I wake up I know to live well, laugh often, and to love much.
